Like most things that are powerful and important to me do, astrology came into my life super randomly.
I was working with a writing consulting client. She was trying to figure out what day to launch her new business and mentioned she was going to consult her birth chart to figure it out.
I immediately got judgey, thinking to myself, “Seriously? Geez…just pick a date already!”
Up until that point, astrology was just woo-woo hippy shit to me. Save for reading the little write-ups about what to expect in the week ahead in the free papers while waiting for take-out, I had zero interest in it.
I grew up in a household with super close-minded views about anything outside the so-called norm. It felt safer to reject anything beyond the scope of familial normalcy than to embrace it because I didn’t want to be rejected.
Even though I myself was anything but normal. Convention and I never played well together, but I felt compelled to at least try to go along with the group up until recent years, out of survival.
But not now. Now it’s the norm that scares me. Gimme ALL the woo-woo! I wanna know everything about all things that cannot be quantified or qualified through the lens of the 3D.
Back to the story about my client: I did indeed, get judgemental about her desire to consult her birth chart before the big launch day. The good news about my shitty projections?
I know judgement is a catalyst for me to dig into whatever it is I’m feeling judgemental about.
So that’s what I did. Eventually. 😂 It took a few passes through my brain before I finally took action. IE it kept popping into my head that I should ask my client for her astrologer’s email. And when I finally did my life was altered in a beautiful and profound way.
Astrology is a support system – an offering of wisdom and guidance from the stars to help you meander your life in a more impactful way.
It’s a powerful validation of who you are and how to best put your gifts to use. And if you don’t know what your gifts and talents are, astrology helps you figure that out.
Astrology is a tool given to humans to help them live their lives with greater purpose.
It’s a messaging system that says, No – don’t do that shit. Come over here and focus on this cool stuff that you’re gonna love if you just give it a try!
Astrology is an intimate insight into your psyche. It wakes you up to what you need to work on, and the areas or things you need to be mindful of.
Example from my life:
Astrology affirmed my need to be mindful of escapism tendencies.
My birth chart acknowledged the existence of childhood trauma I tried to push down and away for years through learned coping mechanisms, AKA addictions.
It also acknowledged my tendency to reject my feelings, and all the anxiety and depression that had come from not feeling safe enough to feel how I felt.
The validation of my struggle was incredibly healing. It helped me learn how to be kinder to myself, and to realize my power.
I survived! I am a survivor! That’s empowering!
My astrological reading gave me insights into my life path.
I am an actress in my personal life. Humour naturally falls out of me, as does performing. I grew up dancing, singing (i still love both) and acting has always been something I’ve been fascinated by.
Through my astrological reading a vortex in my brain opened up that got me thinking maybe, just maybe, I could put the performer in me to use in my career. It gave me the go-ahead to consider sharing the parts of my personality I usually save for my hubby or super close friends.
Learning about my chart led to some wild transformation in my life.
2 weeks after my astrology reading I was signed to a talent agency; 1 day after being signed I was on a paid photo-shoot; 1 week after that I was working on a movie set, and I am currently working on a video audition for my first speaking role (PS I GOT THE PART😳)
None of this is a coincidence because there are no coincidences in life, only synchronicities.
There are a ton of amazing things I’ve learned through astrology which fuel my continued drive to study it. Which is why I really wanted to share a little bit of my experience with the world because it could help someone else the way it helped me.
Through astrology, you can find the validation and guidance you’ve been seeking. 🌙🌌✨🌗
If the inkling to investigate is more like a judgment, alas WTF is Andrea talking about? Astrology? Really?? dare to dig into that judgment.
Judgment holds us back from opportunities to heal ourselves.
Judgment feels uncomfortable*, and we associate the “bad” feelings with whatever it is that has stimulated said judgement, and avoid it like the plague.
But cool stuff happens when you see judgement for what it is: an opportunity to learn more about whatever you feel inclined to immediately reject.
(*Some folks love how judgement feels, to the point that they are addicted to the endorphins that come when they get their judgement on. It takes a lot of self reflection and courage to notice this cycle happening within, but it’s possible to see it and correct course.)
Consider getting a birth chart reading, or use a free birth chart calculator online and dig into some of your placements.
If you decide to hire someone, be sure to ask them about their training and experience. Look for reviews and be discerning, like you do when you’re online shopping.
As I mentioned above, you can do it yourself if you feel inclined. Check out sites like astro.com to get your birth chart info and then google all the placements. Youtube has some pretty cool astrologers. I’m a big fan of astrologyuniversity.com, too.
A NOTE ABOUT GETTING READINGS FROM OTHER PEOPLE:
Be discerning. The spiritual community is like any other community. There are people offering services who are capable of manipulation because they’re human and we are ALL capable of being manipulative.
Another thing to consider, when researching your astrological chart:
Don’t allow the limiting beliefs you read or hear about certain placements permeate your psyche.
There is a HUGE difference between realizing some areas of your chart might be a challenge and choosing to believe you’re destined to suffer.
Challenging placements are not indications of hopelessness, but insights into areas of life that will require work.
If you read or hear of something really negative about your placement(s), remember that it’s just another person connecting to their own fear-based paradigms, and subconsciously trying to keep the fear alive by transferring it onto you. You don’t have to take it on.
We have to discern whenever we take in new information and Astrological interpretations are no different.
There are some really cool astrology apps out there. I’d say it’s the quickest way to witness and integrate the power of your chart.
I like The Pattern and Co-star. Both free. Will probably blow your mind, but whatever.
I also highly recommend astrology university if you are serious about learning astrology, ie want to go deeper than free apps and YouTube videos. It would also be a great place to find a fabulous (and vetted) astrologer to consult with on a birth chart reading.
Unveil the wisdom within you through astrology. 🌀🌀🌀
FINAL THOUGHTS:
If you’re not sure about your birth time, get it confirmed.
I lived with an incorrect birth chart for a few years and it was very confusing. On the flip side, finding out the actual time was very empowering.
In Canada, you can contact vital statistics and request it for $50 CAD. Not sure about the US or Australia, but look into it.
Love, love, love,
UPDATE JAN 2021: After 3 years of studying, including a deep dive during the pandemic, I am currently offering astrological chart readings.
