Hey, I’m Andrea – an entrepreneur, writer, poet, self-compassion advocate & creative who is driven to understand what makes people tick, myself included.
Over the past 6 years I’ve drastically altered my life. I’ve transformed from an addiction-driven pessimist to a person who values what she brings to the table.
It’s taken a lot of work. There’s nothing fun or easy about facing and deconstructing the beliefs that teach us to hate ourselves. But damn, is it freeing.
I’ve learned a lot along the way and began sharing the lessons from my healing journey on this blog you’re visiting in 2015 (Thank you for being here, BTW 🖤)
I am a self-compassion advocate.
My motto (one of them anyway) is if we can’t be kind to ourselves we can’t be kind to others, at least not in ways that truly make an impact. Another to-the-core motto of mine=
Being kind to yourself is the answer to all of your emotional woes.
I love to write.
I’ve always had a knack for writing. It was something I felt pulled towards and into from a very young age.
College helped me refine my skills.
I majored in technical communications (these days it’s often referred to as information design) and minored in computer science.
After college, I spent a really long time trying to be happy about working for other people. It never happened, and I eventually learned to celebrate the fact that I was born to be my own boss and use my love of writing to help others.
I am an introvert with extrovert tendencies.
I love connecting with people and performing (fun fact: I am also an actor) but at the same time, I really love doing my own thing.
Actually, I NEED to do my own thing whenever I spend a lot of time in the company of others. I’m all about that balance. ♎︎
I trust my instincts.
I respect and follow my inner compass, even if it leads to awkward conversations.
I also trust the signs my body sends me. As a physical intuitive my body always has a lot to say.
I am vigilant about taking care of myself.
If I’m in good shape physically, mentally, and emotionally, I’m capable of helping others. So I keep close tabs on my thoughts, pound back a lot of green drinks, eat plant-based foods, and do what lights me up whenever possible.
What’s lighting me up right now? Helping my clients, doing readings, writing poetry, researching all the woo-woo spiritual stuff I can get my hands on, and creating and sharing content that helps people.
I love nature and animals.
Life is easier, better, and lighter when I’m breathing fresh air, walking on grass, or having conversations with my cat about the hardships of not being given unlimited access to cat treats (His name is Jack and he is part cat, part parrot and I love him to bits.)
I love to laugh.
Humour is 100% the direction I head when I’m nervous. It usually works out for me? lol. Laughter is always high on my priority list. It contributes to the balance I crave. From heavy to light…
I basically feel both young and old at heart. A forever kid but with wisdom that wants to be expressed. I’m tapping into it on a deeper level the more I heal myself, and learning how to share it in productive ways (like here, and here)
I am a student of life.
I believe that as long as we’re alive there will be opportunities to grow and create positive change in the world. I feel innately driven to investigate the opportunities that come my way – not just for me but for the betterment of society.
I never waiver from the calling within me, telling me to keep educating and empowering myself and trying to help others. It’s why I’m here: to help people heal.
